Slide Toppers

We had gone our first 3 years without slide toppers on Homer.  We always admired how they looked on other rigs, but Homer didn’t come with them and we weren’t willing to shell out the dough when we purchased it.  As we started our full time living, we got a leak in our slide above our bed.  We ended up having to remove the ceiling, treat the mold that had started to grow, replace the above bed lights and recalk the slide completely.  For the amount of time and money we spent to do all this, we could easily have had a slide topper installed and just recalked as part of our regular maintenance that year.  We have also done our research and spoken with other full timers that have them installed and the majority of them said – Just do it.  They are worth the additional leak prevention and in keeping those slides from filling up with “stuff” that gets dumped inside when you retract your slides.  These are new to us, but we are loving them so far.
