Leaving Minnesota

After spending many, many years in Minnesota, raising our family and now living in our new “home” in Nashwauk, we are ready to begin our travels through the Western US. Our first stop is Jamestown, North Dakota, and just 6 hours from where we are currently located. It will be a great first trip to do a real shakedown and see how everything in the camper will travel. The bonus is we will be able to see the world’s largest buffalo and we all know that is Dave’s spirit animal! (According to me anyways)

We are beginning our travels using two vehicles, which may seem odd to some, but will be a huge benefit to us as a pilot vehicle. Anyone who has camped in a larger rig, has experienced the thrill of getting stuck on a dead end road and having to back out 70 feet of camper, or reading about the huge spot you have reserved and then finding out it is indeed huge, however your awning will get ripped off the camper trying to get between the two trees that were planted at the drive way entrance. Lol! Love to hear those stories, not so excited about living them myself anymore. Our one challenge to all of this, is missing the time we spend together in the truck. I don’t know how we find stuff to talk about after 33+ years of marriage, but we always seem to as we head down the road. Hoping our cell phones will help us to keep that connection. The other benefit will be the ability to stop and take a photo whenever the spot grabs us. I am looking forward to that. Perhaps we will get some pictures that don’t include bugs all over the windshield!

This past week has brought some sadness. I know we aren’t leaving forever and will be back every year, however, it seems like a mini good-bye and I will treasure each and every hug we have received from all those we have seen and love.

Remember, if any of you decide to meet us on the road, you can see our tentative dates and come exploring with us. We’d love to spend as much time with everyone as we can, just in a new way.

See you on the Road!

Dave and Theresa
