Bounty from the U.S. East Coast

As you know, Dave and I spent all summer traveling from Florida to Maine, and back again. We spent time with family, friends and just enjoyed learning and sightseeing as much of the area as we could. Truly a trip of a lifetime for us.

We also spent a majority of our time just walking the beach. In fact, we spent so much time beachcombing, my creative energy was firing on all cylinders at the bounty spread before us each, and every day.

So, when you live in a small space, what do you do with this plethora of nature’s art? Well, first you squirrel it away in every available space. (Under the couch is more space than I thought I had! Even Dave was shocked at how much I pulled out of there when we arrived back in Orange Lake.) Then I researched and found soooooo many ideas for all these supplies. I finally started building them once we returned from Mn. Since we are having a craft fair here in our park this December, maybe someone else will like what I’ve created. What do you think?

Pebble Art

Mussell Shells

Sea Glass – Soooo much sea glass

Driftwood

I’ve got one more idea to make some beach lanterns, mostly because I over bought on my small candles – lol – and then we’ll see where it all ends up. I figure I can always donate what doesn’t sell because there is no way, I can keep all this. What I did realize is that I need this type of creative outlet for myself and now no matter where we travel, you’ll probably find us out looking for whatever of nature’s bounty we can find. (As long as I can keep the underside of the couch clear!)

For me, this was a huge AHA moment. No matter the size of our home, or the place we land, I need to find a way to use all the creative energy I have stored up. It’s almost as if during my working career of being creative with business solutions, I didn’t lose those skills and instead now can channel them into a more artistic outlet. I love that no matter my age, I continue to learn and grow within myself. Amazing and beautiful!

The final item I made was an homage to Dave’s mom. As you know, when we first started this adventure, I had promised her a pelican suncatcher. Unfortunately, I still have not been able to find one. 40 states and nada, and that includes Louisiana where it’s the state bird! So, I made one in her memory and for some reason, I think she would like this one the best.

See ya on the road,

Dave and Theresa

  1. OMG Theresa, remember stitch and _____? I miss you and all your creative talent. PS I could have used you after June 9th to give me some help with my new family room (I still slip and call it the playroom sometimes, but always go back and correct myself.) I am painting it next weekend and I think you would be amazed!! I don’t know what the name of my stye is but I know I like it!!
I would buy all of your pieces, so simple and calming with all materials made from nature…. I LOVE it! (and you too!)
    Sis,

  2. I am blown away with your artistic talent. I would love to buy one of your treasures when the craft sale. I love every one you did. I am so touched by the one you made in memory of Barb, it will certainly bring her spirit with you no matter where your journey takes you. Love you guys! Hope you have an amazing Christmas season.

Thanks for reading about our latest adventure. What did you think?
